While we were traveling back to Lisbon, our bus driver, Teo, decided to randomly take us off route to this place he insisted that we must see. What I'm talking about was the most Western part of Europe, called Boca do Inferno. It was absolutely beautiful. (Peep the header photo for this page). While I was here, I realized how blessed I really was to have the opportunity to travel and see all the beautiful things that I did throughout the trip.

This was one of the most interesting places that we visited. We took a day trip here and then went back to Lisbon to sleep, but spent the entire day touring the Pena Palace, (which was HUGE). Out of the 84 miles that we walked on foot, I think that we walked about 20 of those miles at this palace. Not exaggerating. The palace was filled with history and real artifacts from Kings and Queens of Portugal. This was a long day, but was most definitely worth it all.
Beach DayMy roommate Rachel and I made the impulsive decision to take a 45-minute Metro ride to Carcavelos Beach to enjoy a beach day, while everyone else went to the aquarium. We figured that we can go to an aquarium in America, so why not experience the beach life in Portugal? We went to the cutest little beach, with the friendliest people and an amazing meal. It was one of the best days, if not THE best day I had on the entire trip. We felt so carefree and genuinely happy. We were drinking beer on the beach all day long, and ate a bomb crab leg sandwich and chips for 5 euros. I actually wish I could relive this day all of the time.
Not going to lie, I was a bit disappointed with Lisbon. I had high expectations for the country, but I think that it was because we stayed in a crappy part of Lisbon. When we traveled around Lisbon, the rest of the city was beautiful; but it felt exactly like New York. There was an avenue with a bunch of high-end stores, like 5th Ave in NYC. The sidewalks were beautifully tiled and there was an underground Metro train, with a bunch yellow cabs. We ate at chain restaurants like Pizza Hut and Burger King (because they were right next to our hotel), and nothing that was of the Portuguese culture, really was around us. I know I sound negative, but we did have an incredible time in Portugal.
